I'm guessing that Thoreau was trying to say something along the lines of our government should chill out and stop sticking their noses where they don't belong, unless it's nessesary. I strongly disagree with this. What good is our government if they're not there to protect us or to make our lives better? If a government isn't present in the peoples lives how can they improve? What's their purpose? It makes no sense to me for someone to have a oppinion like that.
